At every Costa BREAM Series event of 2016, angler’s aren’t just battling it out for the first place cheque. ABT have numerous sponsor bonus programs which reward anglers in a multitude of ways. The Duffrods Big Bag rewards the angler who delivers the biggest sack of the tournament over the two days and is eligible for both boaters and non-boaters to win. The prize? A brand new Duffrod valued at over $450.
“The Duffrods Big Bag is a great initiative we first rolled out a few years ago,” said ABT’s Simon Goldsmith, “it’s something you can strive for even after a bad first day, if you know where the big ones are you can go after it, knowing you’ve got a great incentive to make the roll of the dice worthwhile.”
Clarence Tournament champion Tom Slater claimed the Duffrods Big Bag at Yamba thanks to his second day charge. His 5/5 3.2kg limit pipped Mark Crompton by the slimmest of margins. “Last year in the 2015 BREAM Grand Final I caught a huge bag the first day with my non-boater Shaun Egan, I then failed to capitalize from the lead I had. It felt much nicer this year to comeback to the scales on the final day with a big bag, I think I much prefer the ease of not leading overnight,” laughed Slater.
Warren Carter claimed the Gold Coast Duffrods Big Bag thanks to his first day haul on the reef
flats of Mud Island. His 5/5 3.2kg limit matched that of Slater’s from the tournament prior, and set up Carter for the victory he desperately needed to put his hands on the Power-Pole BREAM AOY trophy.
