After the first round last month on Sydney Harbour, all eyes turn on the small town of Mallacoota and the amazing fishing that the inlet provides.
My first time fishing Mallacoota was last November for the Classic Grand Final. It has always been somewhere I’ve wanted to fish for years and to finally get down there was a dream come true for me. Although myself and Callum didn’t catch enough fish to compete for the win that weekend it was awesome to spend time on the water disecting a new waterway and enjoying catching some fish with a good friend.
I’m expecting a massive field to turn up to Mallacoota. Possibly even the biggest for the year. In my opinion, the bigger the better when it comes to fields. More boats, more competition and more
reward for the person who sacks em’ the best.
I still need to do a lot come pre-fish day to work out what’s going on. It will be a different bite to when I was there in November. Chances are I’llhave to look a bit deeper than the 2-3 feet of water I was fishing in November. To be honest, I don’t really care how I catch them if I weigh the sort of bags Mallacoota is famous for.
Its a big drive from Brissy to Coota, it’ll take me just under 20 hours in total but that will all fade away the second my ENVY Black loads up on a big Coota bream.
