ABT Angler Profile – Scott Baker

IMG_5356One of the funniest and most liked anglers on the Hobie kayak tour Scott Baker has achieved a lot since stepping into a Hobie. Winner of the first Hobie Fishing Worlds, kayak round winner, and AFC angler Scott has achieved more than most.

While taking his fishing seriously Scott doesn’t take life too seriously and he never lets the stress and pressures of tournament angling get in the way of having a good time with his mates. Let’s read on and find out what makes the Victorian joker tick.

  6. Your go-to technique– Slow rolling hard bodys on flats
  7. Your favourite lure– Sugi Shrimp Jackall Chubby with pink eye  deep diver
  8. Your most feared competitor– Greg Lewis
  9. What, if any, sponsors do you have– Scott Lovig Hobie, SLH, Lovig Kayak Fishing, Duff rods and my Wife.
  10. How many days a month do you fish– 4-6 days
  11. How much a year would you spending on tournament tackle– Ahhh not sure, certainly not as much as I used to.
  12. Dream fishing location– PNG for black bass.
  13. Most embarrassing moment in a tournament– double donuting on AFC chasing Barra, .
  14. Favourite place to eat on the road– Local pub in local town
  15. How many tournament donuts have you had to eat– my surname is baker so I make them on occasion, doubles are my least favourite, I would have had at least 5-6 at least, had one at Lake Tyres just recently

  17. The tournament moment that broke your heart– 2013 Hobie Worlds I came 4th after not getting a full bag on day one when most of the field did, this would have placed me right at the pointy end.

  19. Hardest venue– Lake Tyres
  20. Dream fishing companion– I haven’t got one but love fishing and travelling with my mates, never a dull moment its all good.
