Perfect weather greeted by keen anglers for the Bluefin Boats ABT Bass Electric round at Lake Wivenhoe Dam. The boys weighed in more fish than last year, however most anglers found it very tough. 8 bass weighed in amongst 21 anglers.
Tim Steenhuis took out the event with 2 bass weighing at 2.38kg, which included the big bass of 1.59kg. Tim fished about 3km up the lake and targeted his AYU TN60 jackall on 3 points to pull his bag limit. Tim used his NS Black Hurricane rod to work the jackall on a slow roll, throwing the lure into 10 feet of water and slowly working it out to the 30 feet his boat was sitting in. The bass hit the lure somewhere in the middle. Tim also caught a Yellowbelly and a Tilapia (which he disposed of).
Adrian Wiilson, last years event winner took 2nd place with 2 bass for 2.32kg. Adrians choice of weapon was a BarraBass baitcaster rod, a Daiwa Steez reel and a TN60 Jackall. Adrian fished a rock wall which he found in the prefish, targeting the 15 to 20 feet depth. He also used a slow roll technique.
Well done to all the anglers who turned up to have a crack at Lake Wivenhoe. It was a tough day but better than last year, hopefully even better next year.
