10 Reasons to be excited for the 2016 Costa BREAM Series
The Costa BREAM Series is back to eight rounds in 2016. ABT are stoked about the upcoming series and you should be too! Check back over the next two weeks for daily updates.
#1 The ‘Viccy Tour’
There’s arguably no better way to kick off a year’s tournament fishing than a weeklong road trip into Victorian bream country. The ‘Viccy Tour’ will explore the picturesque waterways of Mallacoota Inlet and the Gippsland Lakes where anglers will battle it out for the title of champion and an early lead in the Angler of the Year race.
With little rain in the region over summer, both systems are flowing crystal clear. Victorian power pair Warren Carter and Cameron Whittam are expecting the fishing to be better than last year, despite the clear water.
“You’ll be able to fish to your strengths at both venues at this time of year,” says Whittam, who also believes the tournaments can be won on almost any technique at this time of year.
Last year we saw Kris Hickson take the Mallacoota event and Declan Betts, a Victorian local steal the show at a tough Gippsland Lakes round. Both Whittam and Carter expect a much more lenient Gippsland this time round.
“I think Gippy will fish much better than last year,” says Carter, with Whittam adding that anglers may have to go light to get the bite.
The Victorian leg of the Costa BREAM Series always attracts a large field of keen anglers and this year it’s shaping up to be the best yet!
