#4 The US Experience

Peter Phelps travels to the United States in July courtesy of his win in the 2015 BASS Pro Grand Final. Peter will team up with Australian Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Carl Jocumsen as the pair pre-practice, practice and fish a Bassmaster Northern Open.

Peter originally planned to fish the final Northern Open on Lake Champlain. However a few scheduling issues means he will now fish the second Northern Open on Lake Oneida in New York. Oneida was the scene of Bassmaster Elite Series Pro James Elam’s first victory locking up his 2016 Bassmaster Classic ticket along the way. Featuring a good mix of both largemouth and smallmouth bass, Oneida is arguably one of the most popular venues on the Opens trail for 2016.

Featuring a great mix of cover from sand, grass, wood and rock. You can win on Oneida shallow or deep and on smallies or largemouth, so there will be plenty to keep Peter entertained. Phelps will be entering the event coming off one of the best experiences of his life as he marshals the Bassmaster Elite Series event on New York’s Cayuga Lake before he hooks up with Carl.

“I can’t wait to get on that plane and head to the US. I’m looking to head down to Florida and visit the guys and girls at 13 Fishing and hopefully do some fishing down there before heading up north to Cayuga to hook up with Carl and get down to business” Phelps commented.

With the same prize on offer again for 2016, ABT BASSers have the opportunity of a lifetime to look forward to if they happen to succeed at Australia’s highest level. Who knows, you might just be lucky enough to begin your own ascension to the worlds highest level.
