The Gold Coast International Marine Expo runs from the Gold Coast City Marina situated on the Coomera River, and will serve as the host for the Gold Coast BREAM Classic, a two-day teams event that will see anglers hit the massive expanse of water including Moreton Bay to the north and the Nerang River to the south.
The event runs on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of May. Anglers will be granted access to the boat ramp inside the Gold Coast City Marina and will return to weigh their fish in front of interested spectators attending the Gold Coast International Marine Expo.
“We modelled this event off the popular QLD BREAM Open” said ABT’s Tournament Director Simon Goldsmith. However, the Gold Coast BREAM Classic features a much reduced $250 entry fee to attract new teams to the popular tournament venue. “There’s no doubt that Moreton Bay and the Gold Coast is one of the best and most interesting BREAM tournament venues in Australia,” added Simon Goldsmith. “It offers something for every type of fisherman, from open expansive flats in Moreton Bay, to the narrow structure lined canals of the Nerang River and everything in-between”.
“This is the sort of event where any number of angling styles could prevail” said Brisbane based BREAMer Tom Slater, who plans to fish the event. “If the wind is up the bay could fish really well, but it could be won in the back of the Nerang too.”
