Moogerah Dam is one of the hottest lakes right now in south-east Queensland. Located approximately 60km south-west of Ipswich, Moogerah Dam is right in the heart of bass fishing paradise.
Recent events at the dam have taken big weights and lengths to win and we’re expecting much of the same when the Bluefin Boats/ePropulsion BASS Electric Series kicks off on Saturday afternoon.
Adding this tournament to the BASS Electric calendar offers another 10 qualification spots for the season ending BASS Electric Convention, which has everything to play for with the winner taking home a Bluefin Estuary Pro boat and trailer package, powered by the excellent new ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 (3hp) electric motor.
Local angler Charles West is excited to hit the water, “This weekends round is going to be an absolute corker” said West. “The challenge is going to be consistency over the two sessions, with one being an afternoon and one morning. I think the angler that wins will be the one that makes the necessary adjustments to technique and location with those changing conditions”.
Another Moogerah favourite Dean Thomson will hit the waters with large expectations following the exceptional fishing that’s been on offer to anglers at Moogerah over the last month. “I think the angler that wins will be averaging about a kilo for each of their four fish. I think the pressure might get to some certain spots on the lake, and the possibility of changing weather might slow it down. So I think if someone finds some fish a little bit away from everyone else that could be the key to winning the event,” Thomson Said.
Current #1 ranked ABT BASS Electric angler Adrian Wilson will be another attending the event. Looking to retain his rankings points and #1 position, he’s also knocking on the door of current AOY leaders Johnathon Bale and Les Smith. With scores of 99 and 95 currently contributing, he doesn’t need much to slide into contention. Although everyone will still be making up the five event scores used to make up the final AOY title.
All in all, there’s a lot to play for at this weekends Moogerah Dam BASS Electric. Angler’s enter on the Saturday, an hour before the session starts at midday. Session times are 12pm-5pm Saturday, 6:30am-12:30pm Sunday.
The event will feature a write-up in Fishing Monthly Magazines.
