Twenty anglers turned up to fish the Toonumbar bass electric west of Kyogle in northern NSW and were greeted with overcast conditions and eventually heavy rain, but it didn’t stop them getting a few bass to the scales.
The dam was quite dirty due to the east coast low recently impacting in the area. Two anglers stood out from the rest of the field delivering a full bag limit out of each session; first place went to Joe Urquhart using a beetle spin rigged soft plastic to catch his limit, using a mega bass Luvito with a Daiwa black label rod using 11lb Toray jigging braid with a 7lb Toray upgrade leader. Joe fished at the back of the dam where the feeder creek flowed with clean water into the dam.
Second place went to Charles West who fished Saturdays session with a Gulp 3 inch minnow on a 1/16 jig head and changing on Sunday to a Ayu Jackle chubby to catch his limit; using a 13 Fishing Envy Black with a Daiwa Certate on 6lb leader and 8lb main line.
Rounding out the top five were Tom Reynold, Jonathan Bale and Brett Kleinschmidt. The option up was won by Pete Bostock and Big Bass went to Anthony Melchior. Anthony was fishing his first bass electric comp fishing the back of the dam targeting lily pads with a strike pro blade rigged with a BassMan beetle spin combo using a samurai 302 spin rod and a Daiwa Steez 2506 reel with 6lb Unitika braid with a 8lb leader to catch the stand out fish for the two session.
Thanks to everyone for showing up, it was a great weekend with plenty of laughs!
Cheers Adrian Melchior.
